Since 1977, the Governor has appointed a student from an institution in the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE) to represent Utah students on the State Board of Regents. The Student Regent is a voting member of the Board and serves at the Governor’s appointment for one year. Any eligible USHE student is encouraged to apply. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- The Student Regent must be an enrolled student at a USHE institution during the 2018-19 academic year.
- Student body presidents serving during the 2018-19 academic year are not eligible for this position.
- The Student Regent is expected to attend all meetings of the Board. Currently schedule meetings are found on the Agenda page.
- Applicants are requested to submit a letter of interest, a resume, and 2 letters of recommendation.
Student body presidents will vote to select three matriculated students as finalists from among the pool of applicants for consideration by the Governor. All applicants will be notified before June 30, 2018. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, March 27, 2018.
