Utah Board of Higher Education Statement on USU President Cantwell

The Utah Board of Higher Education released the following statement on February 6, 2025, regarding USU President Elizabeth Cantwell:

“Utah State University President Elizabeth R. Cantwell has accepted another position as the 12th president of Washington State University (WSU). While the details are still being finalized, we expect that she will wrap up her time at USU in the next couple of months and assume her new role on April 1, 2025. This is a wonderful opportunity for President Cantwell, and we wish her very well in this next chapter. The Board is aware of and focused on the opportunities and needs at Utah State University and will soon name an interim president and outline the presidential search process. We look forward to partnering with the campus community and its many supporters to ensure a smooth transition and future success.”
