The Utah Board of Higher Education (Board) is now accepting nominations and applications for the next president of Mountainland Technical College (MTECH). The MTECH search committee, which will lead the search for the next president, has also been named.

Over the past several weeks, the Board and search committee gathered feedback from students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members through public input sessions, online comments and anonymous submissions. That input directly shaped the presidential leadership profile, which will continue to guide the committee as it evaluates candidates.

“The strong participation and thoughtful feedback we received from the MTECH community and our regional workforce partners were invaluable in defining the qualities needed in MTECH’s next president,” said Amanda Covington, chair of the Utah Board of Education. “A student-centered leader who is committed to workforce development and to educational excellence will help build on the college’s strong foundation and help the institution thrive in its next chapter.”

The eight-member search committee, established by the Board to lead the presidential search, brings together stakeholders from across the MTECH community who are charged with identifying candidates who will advance MTECH’s mission and strategic priorities. The search committee includes representation from students, faculty, staff, administration, trustees, and the Utah Board of Higher Education. Mountainland Technical College is one of Utah’s largest technical colleges, providing industry-driven, short-term career training to thousands of students in fields such as healthcare, information technology, skilled trades and business. With campuses spanning Lehi, Orem, Provo, Spanish Fork, Payson and Heber Valley, MTECH serves communities across Utah County and the surrounding region.

As required by Utah law, the presidential search process is being conducted under a confidential process to attract the strongest and most robust pool of candidates. The search committee will review applications, conduct interviews and recommend at least three prioritized qualified finalists to the Utah Board of Higher Education, which will make the final selection in an open and public meeting. To protect the integrity of the process and the privacy of candidates, no information about applicants or finalists will be shared publicly.

While the Board strives to name a new president as soon as possible, it is committed to taking the necessary time to identify, evaluate and hire the best candidate for the position and its stakeholders.
