Beginning today, the Utah Board of Higher Education is accepting nominations and applications for the next president of Weber State University.
Over the past several weeks, the WSU Presidential Search Committee gathered feedback from students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members through listening sessions, online comments and anonymous submissions. That input directly shaped the presidential leadership profile and official job posting and will continue to guide the committee as it reviews and evaluates candidates.
“We are seeking a collaborative, student-centered leader who builds trust and leads with transparency,” said Javier Chavez Jr., search committee co-chair and member of the Utah Board of Higher Education. “The next president should be an approachable and effective communicator who champions teaching excellence, supports faculty success and strengthens student success and experiential learning. We expect our next president to build strong partnerships with regional employers, secondary schools, technical colleges and community leaders while working collaboratively within the Utah System of Higher Education.”

The search committee is committed to providing meaningful opportunities for engagement and input. Additional suggestions or comments regarding the search may be sent to wsupresidentialsearch@ushe.edu or by submitting an anonymous comment online at ushe.edu/wsu-presidential-search-feedback.
“We sincerely thank the students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members who have shared their perspectives throughout this process so far,” said Ally Isom, search committee co-chair and WSU trustee. “Their input has been instrumental in shaping the leadership profile and clarifying the values, experience and vision the Weber State University community is looking for in our next president.”
As required by state statute, the search committee will conduct the process with an enhanced level of confidentiality to attract the strongest and most robust pool of candidates. The search committee will review applications, conduct interviews and recommend three prioritized finalists to the Board of Higher Education, which will make the final selection in an open public meeting. To protect the integrity of the process and the privacy of candidates, applicants and candidate information is confidential and not public.
While the Board strives to name a new president as soon as possible, it is committed to taking the necessary time to identify, evaluate and hire the best candidate for the position.
