Due to Utah’s unique population, the rate of enrollment immediately after high school is not a good measure of college participation rates.  In order to measure the participation rate of High School graduates, USHE uses a 5-year rolling average to track progress.  The most recent 5-year rolling average is here.  USHE has set a goal to have 75% of the 2020 High School Graduating class enroll within 5 years of graduation.

Utah’s population is projected to become increasingly diverse where the non-white ethnic groups will grow from approximately 22% of Utah’s total population to about 35% by the year 2065. There exists a gap between the state population (22%) and the rate at which people from these ethnically diverse groups enroll (19.9%) at USHE institutions. In order to maintain and increase Utah’s educated workforce, USHE will focus on closing the enrollment gap for these populations. Utah’s public postsecondary student body is almost 20% minority.

Ushe goal is to remain under 15% of median household income

USHE’s system goal is for tuition and fees rates to be no more than 15% of Utah’s median annual household income for research institutions, 10% for regional institutions, and 7% for community colleges.

The average published tuition and fees rate for research institutions is 12.74% of Utah’s median annual household income.

The average published tuition and fees rate for regional institutions is 9.03% of Utah’s median annual household income.

The average published tuition and fees rate for community colleges is 5.79% of Utah’s median annual household income.

High-demand awards are identified by mapping the award field to the occupations identified by DWS as high-paying and with strong future growth.

3,600 degrees and certificates. During the 2017-2018 school year, USHE institutions awarded over 3,600 degrees and certificates in teaching and mental health professions. 2,028 elementary and secondary teaching. 1,204 mental health.
