Closed School Information, Resources, and Transcripts
Updated October 6, 2026
If your school has closed, this page will help you find your academic records, explore transferring credits, and locate information about financial aid options.
The Utah System of Higher Education does not maintain student transcripts. Where to request yours depends on the school you attend
Requesting a Transcript
The Utah Division of Consumer Protection (Department of Commerce) maintains a list of closed schools and where their records are held. As of February 17, 2026, requests are submitted through Verif-y or another third-party record holder listed on that page. View the DCP Closed School Transcripts page. Questions? Call DCP at (801) 530-6601, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.

Where will IU credits transfer?
- credit from regionally accredited institutions may transfer to other regionally accredited institutions
- credit from regionally accredited institutions may transfer to nationally accredited institutions
- credit from nationally accredited institutions may transfer to other nationally accredited institutions
- credit from nationally accredited institutions will likely not transfer to regionally accredited institutions
What do I have to do to find out if IU credits transfer?
IU students need to provide evidence of what they learned in each class. Institutions generally reviewed credits on a course-by-course basis to determine which would transfer and determine credit equivalency. The more information you can provide about the courses taken, the easier it is for a new institution to evaluate credits for transfer. In addition to a transcript and a catalog course description, course syllabi are important documents for transfer evaluation. Ask if exams, papers, or other projects will help a new institution make a credit transfer decision.
