Prime Program Scholarship

The Prime Scholarship is awarded to students who earn the TRANSFORM certificate granted by the Utah State Board of Higher Education (USBE) after completing required concurrent enrollment (CE) or career and technical education (CTE) coursework in high school.

  • Eligible Students:      
    • Recent Utah high school graduates
  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • Be awarded the TRANSFORM certificate by the USBE
    • Complete a FAFSA
    • Meet all application deadlines
    • Enroll at an eligible institution full-time beginning the fall semester after high school graduation OR provide documentation that a deferral has been granted from the institution
  • TRANSFORM Certificate Information
    • Requirements for a TRANSFORM certificate are determined by USBE and are awarded by individual high schools. Please reach out to your high school counselor for more information about earning this certificate while in high school. USBE provides the following information to help students understand if they may be eligible for this scholarship.
    • Students must complete 1 of the following:
      • Complete five (CE) general education courses, each from a different general education category, as designated for concurrent enrollment by the Utah Board of Higher Education. (Categories: Written Communication, Quantitative Literacy, American Institutions, Fine Arts, Humanities, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Social and Behavioral Sciences) OR
      • Complete at least 6 courses or 300 hours of a career and technical education (CTE) program at a Utah technical college OR
      • Complete a youth apprenticeship (beginning with the class of 2024)

    • Private, non-profit Utah institutions:
      • Brigham Young University (Provo campus)
      • Ensign College
      • Western Governors University
      • Westminster University
  • Application Period:   
    • Students apply during their senior year of high school.
    • Application information for the class of 2025 will be posted on this webpage as soon as it is available.
  • 2024 High School Graduate Application Information
    • Part 1 of the application opens: January 2 – March 20, 2024.
      • *For 2024 graduates who completed a youth apprenticeship and were unable to apply during the initial application period (Part 1), a second application will be available May 15 – June 15, 2024*
    • Part 2 of the application will be available May 15, 2024 – June 15, 2024.
      • All current applicants will receive an application update via email by May 3, 2024. If you do not have an email by May 3rd, reach out to the scholarship office immediately.
      • All eligible applicants are required to complete part 2 of the application to accept and remain eligible for the scholarship. See your email notification or the form for more information.
  • Additional Information for the Class of 2024:
    • 2024 recipients will receive a one-time $500 award.
    • All eligible applicants must submit part 2 of the application (described above) to accept the award and provide fall 2024 enrollment or deferment plans to the scholarship office by June 15, 2024.
