What is the impact of the LDS missionary age change at Utah colleges and universities?

Utah’s public colleges and universities saw a slight drop in enrollment between fall 2012 and fall 2013 due to the impact of the missionary age change announced by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in October 2012. The figures were well below the loss that was initially projected. By fall 2015, most of these missionaries have returned and found their way back to campus, as evidenced by the interactive graph below. The effect of the missionary age change is expected to continue to normalize in the coming years.

The interactive graph below provides an age-by-age comparison of students enrolled during fall 2012, 2013 and 2015 academic years, broken down by gender and institution.  This data includes all institutions in the Utah System of Higher Education as well as Brigham Young University (BYU).
