Senate Confirms Governor’s Appointments to New Higher Education Governance Board

The Utah Senate has confirmed Governor Herbert’s appointments to the newly-formed Utah Board of Higher Education. This restructured governance of higher education, outlined in SB111, Higher Education Amendments, combines the Utah System of Higher Education and the Utah System of Technical Colleges to create a unified system with one board, the Utah Board of Higher Education, to better support students with higher education accessibility, affordability and accelerate graduation rates. This new governance structure takes effect on July 1, 2020. The Governor anticipates swearing in these members during their inaugural meeting on July 10, 2020.
