After earning his accounting degree from Southern Utah University, he managed and oversaw all corporate operations for the DATS Trucking Group of Companies, including DATS Trucking, Inc., Overland Petroleum, LLC, Overland Leasing, LLC, and Ernie’s Stores, Inc. He continues today as the managing member of Overland Leasing, LLC and The Gas Patch, LLC, as well as president and principal of Ernie’s Stores, Inc.
Danny has lent his leadership to numerous financial, educational, and industry institutions. His notable governance experience includes serving as Chairman of the Board for Ambest, Inc., and as a board and executive committee member for the Utah Food Industry Association. He is deeply committed to higher education and workforce development and has served as a trustee for both Utah Tech University and Dixie Technical College, and as governance chair for the Utah Tech Foundation. His financial advisory experience includes council and board seats with Zions Bank, State Bank of Southern Utah, and the Sinclair Oil Executive Distributor Council.
A Utah native, Danny holds an Associate of Arts from Dixie College and a Bachelor of Arts in accounting from Southern Utah University. Alongside his business career, he’s dedicated 27 seasons to coaching high school baseball at Dixie High School, concluding his tenure as head coach in 2024. He resides in St. George with his wife, Jenny, their three children, and six grandchildren.
