Katie Mazzie is a graduate of the University of Utah (MPA, BA History and Political Science) and currently serves as Assistant Commissioner for Strategic and Government Affairs at the Utah System of Higher Education, where she has the privilege of combining her passion for higher education with her expertise in strategic planning, organizational operations, governance, and public policy. Katie has been supporting and promoting higher education since 2008 when, as a first-generation college student herself, she began serving as a tutor in East High School’s AVID program, a college-preparatory elective for first-generation students. Katie lives in Millcreek with her husband and preschool-aged son. Odds are, if she’s not at work or hanging out with her boys, she’s probably on a golf course.
