Nate Talley

Deputy Commissioner and Chief Financial Officer

Nate Talley is the Chief Financial Officer for the Utah System of Higher Education. Prior to his tenure with USHE, Nate worked for nearly a decade in the Utah Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget, ultimately serving as Deputy Budget Director and Chief Economist for Governor Cox. Nate’s budget and policy work experience spans an array of topics, including state tax reform, Medicaid expansion, and business cycle budget management, among many other areas.

Nate has a strong interest in the local economic and academic communities. He is a former co-chair and current member of the Utah Economic Council, and he periodically teaches and guest lectures in the University of Utah master’s of public administration and policy programs. Nate holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Utah.
