USHE’s Talent Ready Utah awards $873k in grants to Utah colleges

Funds to serve more than 275 Utah students

Talent Ready Utah, housed within the Utah System of Higher Education, awarded $873,090 in funding to Salt Lake Community College, Bridgerland Technical College and Weber State University under its Utah Works and Talent Ready Connections initiatives. 

Grants totaling $710,930 will be used to fund three new Utah Works programs serving the manufacturing and transportation industries at Salt Lake Community College and Bridgerland Technical College, including:

  • Principles of Scientific Molding, Salt Lake Community College
  • PLC & VFD Training, Salt Lake Community College                              
  • CDL, Bridgerland Technical College

A grant totaling $162,160 will be used to fund a Cybersecurity and IT Infrastructure Apprenticeship Program at Weber State University under the Talent Ready Connections initiative.

“We are pleased to award Bridgerland Technical College, Salt Lake Community College and Weber State University more than $873k in combined funding to support the manufacturing, transportation and cybersecurity industries,” said Dave R. Woolstenhulme, Commissioner of Higher Education. “These programs will serve more than 275 Utah students and connect them to in-demand occupations.”

Talent Ready Utah accepts applications for the Utah Works and Talent Ready Connections initiatives quarterly. The next round of reviews will begin July 1, 2023, for Utah colleges.
