Utah’s public colleges and universities to reduce student fees for fall semester

Utah System of Higher Education college and university leaders announced their plans this week to reduce fees for students for the fall 2020 semester. Reductions in student fees at public colleges and universities in Utah range from 15% to 40%—a savings of up to $152 for each full-time student.

The coronavirus pandemic has impacted some services offered to students on campus. Because of this, USHE colleges and universities worked with students and campus leadership to make cuts to student fees and to help students financially during this difficult time.

Student fess generally support on-campus services like health care, campus recreation, software licenses, as well as infrastructure costs and more.

Utah’s public technical colleges do not have general student fees. Technical college fees are tied to specific courses and programs, which are not affected in the same way as the general student fees at USHE degree-granting colleges and universities.
