As summer starts to wind down, Utah’s colleges and universities are gearing up for fall semester. Institutions have been helping to prepare new students for college life through new student orientations, much of which includes campus social events, campus tours, games, campus informational sessions, faculty and staff meet-and-greets, assistance registering for classes, and how to navigate through the first year in college. Many institutions offer a two-day new student orientation where students stay overnight on campus to get better acquainted with campus life and to get to know their new peers better. In addition, some institutions offer optional adventure orientations; Weber State University offers an overnight Experience Weber orientation where students spend two days kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, hiking, and camping. Southern Utah University offers a day in the National Parks where students can go horseback riding, hiking, or boating.
