Jared Haines is the Commissioner’s Senior Advisor for Technical Education. He assists and advises the Commissioner on technical education projects and issues, advocacy, institutional support, legislative support, and leadership for technical education throughout USHE.
Jared served 15 years in the Utah System of Technical Colleges as Associate Commissioner of Instructional and Student Affairs and as Interim Commissioner of Technical Education until its 2020 merger with USHE. He was previously Vice President of Student Services at Mountainland Technical College, where he started as a program developer in 1994 while it was part of Utah Valley State College.
Jared has a Master of Organizational Behavior degree from Brigham University, where he also completed a bachelor’s degree in organizational communications with an emphasis in training and development. Previous to his experience with the technical colleges, he worked for a large telecommunications firm and a non-profit organization.
