David S. Schwanke named Executive Director of Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority 
Schwanke has served as interim executive director of UHEAA since September 2020 

Utah System of Higher Education Commissioner Dave R. Woolstenhulme named David S. Schwanke as executive director at the Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority, effective immediately. Schwanke is the current interim executive director at UHEAA, a position he’s held since September 2020.  

Schwanke has been with UHEAA more than 25 years and served as both associate executive director for accounting and finance, deputy executive director and interim executive director. Schwanke also currently serves as chair on the board of the Education Finance Council. 

“David Schwanke was selected to serve as interim executive director of UHEAA in 2020 for his industry knowledge and expertise,” said Dave R. Woolstenhulme, USHE Commissioner of Higher Education. “Since then, he’s successfully led the organization through several transformations and has continued to bring educational opportunities to Utahns through low-cost loans and top-notch community outreach. I am confident in Schwanke’s ability to continue leading UHEAA into its next stage of excellence as the executive director of UHEAA.”  

Prior to his tenure at UHEAA, David Schwanke worked as a senior auditor at Deloitte & Touche. He received his master’s degree in accounting and finance from Utah State University. He is a certified public accountant and a member of the UACPA and AICPA.
